Our Client

A project built to become Electrifying!

Our team was given a training project assignment by our Creative Director to conduct research and develop a fully designed website Homepage and main pages for their website. A simple catalog mockup and product photography were required also. The group was given 5 weeks to conduct research, develop a wireframe, Photograph and design the catalog and build the graphic design wireframe for StringStart Guitar.

The Electrifying truth

Although guitars have a long history, they had fallen behind the times in a way-especially in terms of volume-as many others instruments had been modified over the years.

It was around 1936 when a jazz guitarist named Charlie Christian (1916-1942) began using an acoustic guitar with a pickup attached to the body, with the intention of playing guitar solos in his band. This is said to be the birth of the electric guitar.

So much to do! So little time! Planning Wireframes, Graphics & Photographs

The largest issue our team will encounter is being able to Manage their time properly to ensure this fictional brand meets their training deadline. StringStart is a fictional company that was created by Digi design group as a case study for our website to provide training to our group and to show off more range of our company.

The goal of this assignment was for our group to develop a cohesive new & used beginner electric guitar shop for e-commerce & their catalog. This required product photography, logo creation, & web design

  • Create a Budget friendly Stock Logo

  • Research and develop a wireframe and graphically designed wireframe for the brand.

  • Photograph at least 7 main products/accessories provided.

  • Develop 2 pages and a cover for their SALES catalog

The first step in this project for our team after Research and Planning was to begin building a wireframe that they could present to the customer. This wireframe was meant as their homepage mockup and provides a simple block-style easy-to-read diagram of how our web designers plan to lay out the website prior to even taking one photo.

  • Build a basic and Graphically Designed Wireframe to show brand cohesiveness.

During the Research and Planning stages of this, our Photographers were busy at work setting up the studio and planning their Product Photography shots of the clients “must-have” featured products.

For this quickly designed logo, our group decided it would be best to focus on the Electric Guitar. So our group retrieved a high quality Electric Guitar Vector Stock from Vecteezy.

For this quickly designed logo, for the purpose of simplicity, our Designers were told to use colors like Digi Design Group, and to find an appealing, visual Electric Guitar Vector that could be retrieved, licensed, and used for a logo within a reasonable timeline and budget.

Our group finally finished by producing 2 pages of a catalog to showcase STRINGSTART’s product line. This Catalog was designed by our Graphic Designers and they used a combination of Adobe’s Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. The catalog was geared to be an in-store and mailed out catalog that showcased their main products and featured accessories.

Our Approach to the Challenge

This project was a learning experience in that our group was able to identify a market and build a basic cohesive brand idea for a new Beginner Electric Guitar shop and gave our group the much needed collaboration and training to allow our group to continue to better themselves daily in their skills.
